4th Sunday of Mesra – Tell us when will these things be?

Written by Administrator on . Posted in Sunday Contemplations

img_0471.jpgThat is what the pure apostles asked during their dialog with Jesus. What they were concerned about was the when? And about the signs of the Lord’s coming?

Here our master Jesus corrects the apostle’s path, and changes their
thinking from the periodic entities. He warns them about dangerous
matters, which should be on their minds. Look at yourselves stay up
late. Be stead fast in the faith, as a lot will be misguided. There
will be false prophets and false teachers in the name of Jesus. They
will misguide a lot. Hopefully that, when the Son of man comes, He
might find faith on earth.

Our Saints: The Reverend Apostles

Written by Administrator on . Posted in Saints and Martyrs

First, we should mention that those reverend Apostles had been called for their mission by Jesus Christ himself. He
is the One who said to them:" You did not choose Me, but I chose you
and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your
fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may
give you" (Jn15:16)

And Jesus Christ also said to them after the Resurrection" As the Father has sent Me, I also send you"(Jn20:21).

How
gracious it is that God's servants are called to the service by God
Himself. St. Paul the Apostle said in his Epistle to the Hebrews "And
no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just
as Aaron was"(Heb5:4).

(feasts)thomas_sunday-001.jpgWas it His Grief, or His Doubting Greater Than the Grief and Doubt of the Rest of the Disciples?

Introduction
After
His Resurrection and before His Ascension into heaven, our Lord Jesus
Christ made a series of appearances to His disciples for the purpose of
strengthening their faith, consoling and edifying them. How the
disciples in general and St. Thomas in particular reacted and responded
to those appearances is the interest of this article.

Characters throughout the Holy Pascha

(jesus_christ)christ_before_pontius_pilate-001.jpgIn today’s secular society, being a Christian can be an overwhelming thing. Over time, American culture has changed from somewhat conservative to exceptionally liberal, thus allowing many things that were previously unacceptable  such as denying Jesus openly, same-sex marriage, drugs, and alcohol  to become casually tolerated and at often times encouraged. We as Christians are faced with these pressures from society daily, but we must not conform. We are ambassadors of Christ, and we have a duty to stand up to such adversity and fight it with the word of God. Without the knowledge and wisdom that we can gain form His word: the Bible, we have no defense.

Fasting & the Body

Written by Administrator on . Posted in Spirituality

christ_bw.pngDefinition of fasting:

The spiritual definition of fasting will be mentioned later in detail. However, what are the physical aspect of the definition of fasting? Fasting is abstinence from food, for a period, followed by eating food free from animal fat.

Period of abstinence:

A period of abstinence is essential, since we would simply be vegetarians if we ate without observing it from the beginning of the day. The word fasting means abstinence or cessation. It is therefore necessary to refrain from eating for a certain period of time.
